Information for Teams & Spectators

To our Southwest Baseball Family,

In order to ensure the safety of everyone this season, we are asking the following protocols to be observed by all of our players, coaches and spectators:

·        If any player, coach, parent, or other family member is showing symptoms of Covid-19, please STAY AWAY from all team activities for either 14 days or until the person in question has been cleared by a negative test. This also goes for coming in contact with a person who has tested positive. If you have any doubt, ALWAYS err to the side of caution.

·        As teams arrive at the ballpark for games, please remain in your vehicle. The only person allowed to approach the field of play will be the head coach or another designated person from each team playing the next game.

·        Once the previously playing teams have vacated the dugouts, and a member of the SWBBL staff has fogged the dugout and bleachers, the coach or designated person will then message their team through text or GroupMe or similar app to enter the field. Teams will need to warm up quickly and be prepared to play. SWBBL will make every effort to start games on time. Extra time has been built into the schedule to allow for proper cleaning of the dugouts and facilities, but sometimes things will back up a little. Please be patient. In order to do things safely, they must be done correctly.

·        As game time is winding down, umpires will remind coaches to begin getting bags packed, bottles thrown away, etc. Each team should have a coach or parent helping the players get cleaned up and ready to go, so as soon as the game ends, everyone can vacate the fields immediately. Post game talks, if desired, should be done outside of the facility or through Zoom or something similar.

·        There are to be NO post-game handshakes. We recommend doing a mutual hat tip to each other to recognize each teams' respective efforts from each foul line.

·        Please make sure your child has a face covering with them at all times on game day. If they do not have one, they will not be permitted in the dugout or on the field of play. Masks may be pulled down while the players are on the field, as they are considered in active athletic participation. Coaches must always have masks on. Umpires will be wearing masks when social distancing cannot be observed.

·        Face masks should always be worn in the dugout and the kids should spread out when possible. This is not always possible, so masks MUST be worn. Extra seats will be provided outside the dugouts that can be utilized.

Additionally:

•          To minimize the amount of people in the park at any given time, we are HIGHLY encouraging limiting spectators to one per player. We realize that watching a child's game is a family event and we truly sympathize with anyone who might not be able to go. Childhood flies by, and every moment missed is a moment we never get back.

•          Spectators at the park must wear face masks or follow the social distancing of 6 feet separation between persons/families. (When social distancing is not possible, wear a mask) Do not fill the bleachers. Please utilize space along fencing on the foul lines and outfield to place your chairs. Windscreens will not be installed this Fall to allow spreading out.

Do not expect absolute perfection at any baseball game, scrimmage, event.  The guidelines are basically suggestions and we hope teams and fans abide by them.  However, we legally cannot enforce some of the guidelines.  It is important that everyone understands there is some risk involved and everyone needs to know it is their option to attend or stay home.  If everyone follows the guidelines, we will keep people as safe as possible.

With that being said, SWBBL has entered into a contract with a company called GoDog Sports to provide live streaming of all games.

-The new live-stream is one of the most ambitious projects we've ever undertaken as a league, but we feel it is important to our families locally and around the world to be able to be present at every moment of their child's time in youth baseball. In addition, this service will be provided at no additional cost to our families. Installation of the cameras will begin in the next 10-14 days, and everything should be up and running shortly after that. We are proud to be the first and only league in town offering this service. More information on this service, including the website to access the games, will be forthcoming.

-We will also be looking for any business owners or managers who would consider advertising on the live-streaming website to help us offset the costs of the services.

It would be a great opportunity to help our league, as well as to get potentially hundreds of eyes seeing your business. More info on this opportunity will be forthcoming as well.

To all our returning families: Thank you so, so much for your continued patronage and support. You all continue to share our goal of giving the children of our community the best youth baseball experience possible.

To our families who are new to SWBBL: Welcome to our family and thank you for giving us a try this fall. We hope you are satisfied with all we are doing here and return in future seasons.

Please feel free to reach out to me, or any of our Board Members or staff, with any questions or concerns you may have. Or just to just tell us you are happy to be playing ball again!

Let's have a great and safe season. God bless,
Alan Crawford, President
Southwest Baseball League
